Orange Granita

Granita is a semi frozen dessert made from sugar, water and various flavorings. Originally from Sicily, granita is related to sorbet and Italian ice with crystalline texture.

For my Granita, have used Orange Juice for this granita. You can use any fresh juice / canned juice for this recipe.

Preparation time: 10 minutes
Setting time : 2 - 3 hours
Recipe adapted from: Donna Hay's Fast Fresh and Simple

  • Sugar - 10 tbsp.
  • Water - 3 cups
  • Orange juice - 2 cups
  • Cinnamon powder - a pinch (for flavor)

How to prepare:
  • In a pan, boil water and sugar till it dissolves
  • Keep the water and sugar mix to cool. Add the pinch of cinnamon powder.
  • Add the fresh juice and mix well.
  • Transfer it to a metal container and freeze for 2 - 3 hours or till completely frozen.

How to serve:
  • Scrape the frozen granita from the container using a fork.
  • Serve the shavings in a tall glass or a martini glass!
